Several stores

Connect a Shopify store per market to one Piste workspace. Reports cover every store in its own currency; Piste asks which store you mean before a lookup or change.

Updated

A Piste workspace can connect several Shopify stores, such as a brand's store for each market. Each store keeps its own currency and its own days. Reports and checks cover every store unless you name one, and Piste asks which store you mean before it looks up one record or changes anything.

How do I add another store?

Only the workspace owner can add a store. Connect the first store as usual (see Shopify), then add the others from the Connections page. Onboarding connects one store.

Open the Connections page

Press Connections in the links at the foot of the sidebar. Your first store is on the Shopify card, under Store.

Press Add another store

Press Add another store. The card says "Another of your stores, such as the one for another market." and shows the "Store address" field.

Connect it

Enter the other store's address, press Connect Shopify and approve access on Shopify. The card now lists both stores.

You can also install Piste on the other store and connect it from that store's Shopify admin with Connect to your Piste workspace. A store can belong to one Piste workspace, so a store that's already in another workspace can't be added.

What does Piste call each store?

Piste calls each store by a label, made from Shopify's store name. You can't set a label yourself.

Your storesLabel Piste usesExample
Have different namesShopify's store nameCoolCabanas
Share a nameThe name and the store's currencyCoolCabanas (AUD) and CoolCabanas (USD)
One store's name is another's handle, its address before .myshopify.comThe name and the store's currencyCoolCabanas (USD), beside the store at coolcabanas.myshopify.com
Share a name and a currencyThe name and the store's handleCoolCabanas (coolcabanas-au)

With several stores, the Shopify card on the Connections page lists each store by its label, and Piste knows each store's currency and time zone at the start of every conversation. When you talk to Piste, name a store by its label, its Shopify name, its Shopify name with its currency, or its myshopify.com address. A name picks a store only when it fits that store alone, so a name two stores share picks neither.

What happens when I don't say which store?

It depends on whether the question covers the business or one thing in one store.

You ask aboutWhat Piste does
A report or a check, such as yesterday's sales, the first read, change follow-ups, clearance markdowns, price probes or the stockout guardCovers every store, each on its own local days and in its own currency.
One order, product, discount, landing page or chartAsks which store.
A new store trigger, target or sale room, or a change to a storeAsks which store.

If you name a store that isn't in your workspace, Piste says no store by that name is connected, and lists yours. A typo and another workspace's store get the same answer. If the name fits more than one of your stores, Piste says so and lists the stores it fits, each by its label and address.

How does Piste handle different currencies?

Piste never adds amounts in different currencies together, and never converts them.

  • One currency across every store: Piste gives each store's figures and a total.
  • Different currencies: Piste gives each store's figures under its name, with no total.
  • Targets: a target covers one store's sales, in that store's currency.

How do automations work with several stores?

An automation is one run that covers every store: you don't need one per store. A store trigger is the exception: it watches the one store it was made for, and its runs, Try it now included, read that store.

When you add a second store, what Piste set up while you had one store stays with that first store: its store triggers, targets, sale rooms and the changes it's following up.

Which time zone does Piste use?

Reports and checks use each store's own days, in that store's time zone. The workspace's time zone, which new automations use by default, stays the first store's: adding another store doesn't change it.

What if one store needs reconnecting?

If Piste loses access to one of several stores, the Shopify card's state reads "Needs reconnecting", that store shows "needs reconnecting" beside its address, and a connect form appears for it. Enter its address and press Connect Shopify to reconnect it. The other stores keep working.

Questions

Can I connect more than one Shopify store to Piste?
Yes. The workspace owner adds each store from the Connections page with "Add another store". Each store keeps its own currency and days, and a store can belong to only one workspace.
Will Piste add up sales across my stores?
Only when every store sells in the same currency. Piste never adds amounts in different currencies together and never converts them, so otherwise it gives each store's figures under its name.
How does Piste know which store I mean?
Name the store, by its name or its myshopify.com address, or by its label, such as CoolCabanas (USD), when two stores share a name. A report or check that names no store covers every store. A question about one order, product or discount, or a change, makes Piste ask which store.
Which time zone does Piste use with several stores?
Reports use each store's own days. The workspace's time zone stays the first store's, and adding another store doesn't change it.
Do I need one automation per store?
No. An automation is one run that covers every store. A store trigger is the exception: it watches the one store it was made for.
